Virginia Capital Semester Internship Program
Web site: www.vcu.edu/capitalsemester
Virginia Capital Semester is a spring semester internship program with the Virginia General Assembly. This program allows students from Virginia colleges and universities and elsewhere to complete an internship in Richmond during the General Assembly session without losing time in completing their studies. The core of the program is an internship within the legislative or executive branch of Virginia government and an accompanying policy seminar that features presentations by key government and political leaders. Students are able to take additional courses at VCU in areas that match their academic needs to achieve a full-time load. An internship stipend of $1,000 is provided to participants who are registered full time with 12 credits or more. In the past five years, 180 students representing more than a dozen majors and 20 colleges and universities in Virginia have participated in the program.
